My Songs & Recordings Listed In Order Of Date

Mike Jackal - Blues Without The Sun

Uploaded: Tuesday 29th March 2011

Playing around with various Delay options in Guitar Rig and trying to find a good sound. This song features 3 of my most used presets, Peter Green/Clean & Sweet/Gary Moore, all with added delay.
The theme of the song is based on a very famous song. The final section of the song I wasn't too happy with, the sound didn't really fit with the feel of the rest of the song but it was a tongue in cheek tribute to my friend Viking Blues who is having many troubles at the moment with the whole concept of overdrive. Recording using my Epiphone Les Paul.

Mike Jackal - I Need You

Uploaded: Friday 18th March 2011

From the day we met my life has been wonderful and she gives me a reason to wake up everyday.
I wanted to do something to show her how much I love her and to apologise for taking her for granted sometimes.
So I recorded this song which I recently discovered, it was written by Kenny Vance and it really struck with me because it's all the things I want to say to her.
I love you Heather, this song is just for you.

Mike Jackal - For Your Precious Love

Uploaded: Monday March 7th 2011

The song "For Your Precious Love" by Jerry Butler features my favourite chord progression and the lyrics are beautiful too. I was reading an article on 12bar.de where the advice was given to play your blues solo's as if you were singing the lyrics with your guitar. I found that interesting so decided I would record this with me playing all the guitar parts and playing the guitar to sing the lyrics. I was quite pleased with the outcome. I used my Epiphone Les Paul through Guitar Rig 4.

Mike Jackal - Funky Duck Blues

Uploaded: Monday 28th February 2011

I was experimenting with the Auto-Wah effect in Guitar Rig 4 and managed to create this great tone using my out of phase pickups. Another of my favourite recordings to date. I used my Epiphone Les Paul through Guitar Rig 4 on a custom preset called Funky Auto-Wah.

Mike Jackal - Smooth Cruise Blues

Uploaded: Sunday 27th February 2011

A smooth laid back blues improvisation I recorded.

Mike Jackal - A Tribute To Gary Moore

Uploaded: Saturday 26th February 2011
~Most Successful Song To Date (#22 In The Blues Charts)~
Gary Moore is one of my guitar hero's and his death came as a great shock to me and I was deeply saddened by it. I decided to record this as a tribute to him and all the things I have learnt about guitar playing from listening to his music.
The quality of the backing is bad because it is only a little loop I put together in Guitar Pro based on Gary's song "I Love You More Than You'll Ever Know", which is my favourite song of his. Recorded with my Epiphone Les paul through Guitar Rig 4 on a custom Gary moore preset.

Mike Jackal - Gravity Jam (Feat. Half Blind Lefty)

Uploaded: Saturday 26th February 2011

Following a thread on 12bar.de where several people had uploaded their interpretations of this song I uploaded mine. Half Blind Lefty liked it so much that he decided to join in with me. This is one of my favourite recordings as HBL adds so much to the song by harmonising with my playing. I used my Epiphone Les Paul through Guitar Rig 4 on the custom "Clean & Sweet" preset.

Mike Jackal - Greenish

Uploaded: Friday 25th February 2011

After completing the "Peter Green" mod to my Epiphone Les Paul I got the inspiration to record this song. It is very loosely based around the song Greeny, which Peter Green recorded for the John Mayall Bluesbreakers album "A Hard Road".
One of my favourite recordings so far, I used my Epiphone Les Paul through Guitar Rig 4 on a custom preset called "Country Tweed"

Mike Jackal, Bluesinbflat, Viking Blues and Blindboy - Slow Blues In D Collaboration

Uploaded: Friday 25th February 2011

This was the first and only collaboration I have taken part in so far on 12bar.de. This song really shows how different people and playing styles can interpret a song in different ways. My thanks go to the other guys for taking part in this with me. I used my Epiphone Les Paul with Waves GTR3.

Mike Jackal - Last Strat Blues

Uploaded: Friday 25th February 2011

This was the last time I ever played my Squier Stratocaster. The backing track I used was from the Kjell Karlsson Blues Collection.
The mood I tried to get across was my sadness that I was never going to play her ever again. I used Guitar Rig 4 on a custom preset I call "Clean & Sweet"
