My journey with learning the guitar started in March 2007 when I purchased a cheap acoustic guitar on Ebay for my 21st birthday. I had wanted a guitar since I was a child but my mother in her wisdom decided that it was just another one of those things that I would get bored of after 5 minutes. She was probably right but I never forget to point out to her that she held back my creativity all these years.
The main reason I have never stuck at anything is because I am a AD/HD sufferer, I was not diagnosed until late in 2007 so I am still learning to recognise the symptoms so I can adjust things in my life to make things easier.
I hated school and the classroom environment only magnified the AD/HD symptoms to the point where I was kicked out of all but 3 classes. I left with very low exams results despite my intelligence, I then spent the next few years losing jobs and falling into a downward spiral of self medicating with alcohol to hide the frustrations of the AD/HD.
I finally had enough in 2007 and went to the doctor for help, I got my diagnosis and began to try to stop drinking, I succeeded on the third attempt on the 1st of December 2008 and have been T-Total ever since.
All of this coincided with me discovering the guitar, I had learnt the basic chords and a few scale patterns but I got stuck and needed more.
I bought my first electric guitar on 1st December 2007 (which you can see on the guitars page along with my others) and from the moment I started to play I knew I had found my passion in life. Around this time I started listening to more Blues music and began to try to play.
I am now a dedicated blues guitarist.
